I am Zac Cannon and I am the assistant high school band director/percussion director here at the Long Beach School District. I oversee the percussion program grades 6-12 throughout the district and assist with the overall band program. I assist with the High School Marching Band during the fall, help with the beginner band at Harper McCaughan, the 7th and 8th grade bands at LBMS, and run the Long Beach High School Concert Band during the late fall and throughout the spring semester. During the late fall and spring I also direct the Long Beach Indoor Percussion Ensemble that participates in the Mississippi Indoor Association and Winter Guard International events throughout the spring term.

I received my High School diploma from Pearl High School (2007), my Associates of Arts in Music Education from Jones County Junior College (2010), and my Bachelors in Music Education from the University of Southern Mississippi (2013). I am currently working on a Masters in Music Education at William Carey University and should graduate May 2019.

As well as working for the Long Beach School District I work with the Mississippi Lions All-State Band during the summers serving as a percussion tech in 2014, assistant percussion instructor in 2015, head percussion instructor and arranger/composer in 2016, woodwind music/visual tech 2017-2018, and will serve as the assistant percussion instructor in 2019. I have also assisted in helping grow Lone Star Drum & Bugle Corps in Dallas/Ft. Worth, TX as a percussion tech.

I am beginning my fourth year here at the Long Beach School District. I started my teaching career at Warren Central in Vicksburg, MS and taught there for a year and a half from December 2013-May 2015 serving as an asst. band director/percussion director and the 6th grade beginner band director.
