Long Beach Health Science Bearcats Shine at the State HOSA Competition!

We are incredibly proud of our Long Beach High School Health Science Bearcats for their outstanding performance at the HOSA – Future Health Professionals State Leadership Conference!

A group of twelve people stand together outdoors in front of a large tree. They are dressed in formal business attire, most wearing black suits with white shirts, and one person in a blue suit. All wear yellow lanyards with name badges. One individual in the front row has medals around their neck. The group stands on grass near a building and parked cars, posing for a group photo at what appears to be a professional or academic event.

We are incredibly proud of our Long Beach High School Health Science Bearcats for their outstanding performance at the HOSA – Future Health Professionals State Leadership Conference!

This year, 13 of our students placed at the district level, and 11 advanced to compete at the state competition, representing Long Beach with excellence, professionalism, and dedication to the health science field.

Two people stand outdoors in front of a tree and a brick building. Both wear black blazers, white shirts, and yellow lanyards with ID badges. They are smiling and holding medals, suggesting they have received awards. The setting appears to be a school or campus, and the photo captures a celebratory moment.

LBHS Bearcat Jett Hughes,Build Mississippi/MDE, CTE Student of the Month!
A student stands in a classroom wearing a flipped‑up welding helmet and a beige protective welding jacket. They hold a rectangular metal piece in one hand and give a thumbs‑up with the other. Behind them is a light gray cinder block wall, an open wooden door, and a table with a laptop, water bottle, and assorted supplies. Additional bottles and containers sit on the floor along the wall. The scene captures a moment of hands‑on welding or shop‑class work.

Long Beach School District is proud to celebrate LBHS Bearcat Jett Hughes, who has been selected by Build Mississippi/MDE as a CTE Student of the Month!Jett has distinguished himself as one of the most exceptional welding students at Long Beach High School. In just his first year, he completed the entire skills portion of NCCER Welding Level 1—an achievement that speaks to his remarkable talent, discipline, and determination. His skill level and work ethic have surpassed every student in the program. Jett’s dedication doesn’t stop when the bell rings. He spends countless afternoons in the shop, practicing, refining his techniques, and pushing himself to master more advanced work. His consistency, focus, and commitment to safety set the standard for what it means to be a Bearcat in Career & Technical Education. Beyond his technical ability, Jett demonstrates the professionalism, dependability, and positive attitude that employers value.
