Paw Pastries Wins Gold/1st Place

FCCLA won at the 2018-2019 State Leadership Conference/Competition. Over 300 students were there with faculty and staff to compete in over 20 categories. We won gold/1st place for entrepreneurship in occupational category beating out several schools with our Paw Pastries business concept and model. Paw Pastries serves 50-60 customers a day. The team was led by Carmen Desir (Paw Pastries, business development) Ke'Asia Evans(Paw Pastries, kitchen manager and Aaliyah Brown (Paw Pastries, general manager).

Shayla Pierson won silver/2nd place in advocacy occupational category for her focus on sexual assult of minors ages 13-18. Shayla's career goal is to be a social worker. This was their first time competing in FCCLA competition.

Next, FCCLA and Paw Pastries will do Lead2Feed project assisting the elderly with nutritious  meals on the weekend. In addition, for the first time, they have been invited to participate in MGCCC Culinary Cook Off where the will be teamed with local chefs to compete against high schools along the coast.

Other students pictured Nyah Antonucci and Keyanna Evans served as competition facilitators for cake decorating, culinary arts, and teaching science activities for preschoolers.

Ultimately, one of my goals is to help them participate in Success Women's Conference on the coast. Thanks to everyone for their support of LBHS family and consumer science program.
